••• 18 April, 2026 14:00 – 18:00 ••• Capillary Microscopy Course at Rheumatology Update Europe 2026
Capillary microscopy of the nail fold is a simple and non-invasive method for diagnosing and assessing the course of microvascular changes in collagenoses and other diseases. It is part of the specialist training in rheumatology and angiology.
The course provides theoretical and practical basic knowledge on the indication and implementation of capillary microscopy as well as on the interpretation of the examination results. In addition to normal findings, the typical capillary microscopic findings in systemic sclerosis and other collagenoses are to be learned and their recognition practiced.
In addition, current scientific backgrounds and other diagnostic aspects from the field of microangiopathies are explained.
An essential part of the course is the practical exercise on patients with pathological capillary microscopic patterns.
The course concludes with an exam that focuses on the diagnosis of capillary microscopic images.
PLEASE NOTE: This course will be held in English. However, the registration process is only available in the German language. Please get in contact with ulrike.kaemer@rheumaakademie.de if you need support registering for the Capillary Microscopy Course.
