••• 6 May, 13:30 - 16:30 CEST ••• Capillary Microscopy Course at Rheumatology Update Europe 2023
Capillary microscopy of the nail fold is a simple and non-invasive method for diagnosing and assessing the course of microvascular changes in collagenoses and other diseases. It is part of the specialist training in rheumatology and angiology.
The course provides theoretical and practical basic knowledge on the indication and implementation of capillary microscopy as well as on the interpretation of the examination results. In addition to normal findings, the typical capillary microscopic findings in systemic sclerosis and other collagenoses are to be learned and their recognition practiced.
In addition, current scientific backgrounds and other diagnostic aspects from the field of microangiopathies are explained.
An essential part of the course is the practical exercise on patients with pathological capillary microscopic patterns.
The course concludes with an exam that focuses on the diagnosis of capillary microscopic images.
VIENNA - THE CITY
Vienna is the national capital, largest city, and one of nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria’s most populous city, with about 2 million inhabitants (2.6 million within the metropolitan area, nearly one third of the country’s population), and its cultural, economic, and political centre. It is the 6th-largest city by population within city limits in the European Union. The city is located in the eastern part of Austria and is close to the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Vienna is known as the city of music, due to its musical legacy, but also als city of dreams because of it being home to the world’s first psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
